iPhone users and smartphone fans were excited to hear all of Apple’s latest announcements during the event “California Streaming” yesterday. Let’s have a look at the top four announcements: the launch of the iPhone 13 lineup, new iPad mini, iPad 9th-gen and new Apple Watch Series 7.

1. iPhone 13 features

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini – 5G, Portrait-mode videos

The iPhone 13 mini and ‌iPhone 13‌ both feature a smaller notch, repositioned rear-cameras, improved performance, and more while maintaining the same 6.1-inch and 5.4-inch sizes of their respective iPhone 12 predecessors. The top features of the iPhone 13 are: The design features a new diagonal camera layout, and the cameras capture 40% more light; An upgrade on the ultra-wide camera lets in more light; The displays on the iPhone 13 is 28% brighter, with 800 nits of brightness; Portrait-mode videos changes focus on the fly to various subjects.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max – 120Hz display, Cinematic Cameras

“Our three most powerful cameras ever” according to Apple.

The two new devices come in the same 6.1 and 6.7-inch display sizes as the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, with a 20% smaller notch for more display area. One of the biggest upgrades is the ProMotion display for refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz.

Both iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max support the A15 Bionic chip with a six-core CPU and a five-core GPU for a significant performance improvement. This helps the battery life last 1.5 hours more on the iPhone 13 Pro, and 2.5 hours on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

2. iPad mini 6 – 5G, full-screen design

No more Home Button, full-screen design with an 8.3-inch display with touch ID are the top features of the newest iPad mini. For the first time for iPad, the new ‌iPad mini‌ now features 5G technology, giving customers even better performance. Even when on 5G, Apple says the new ‌iPad mini‌ still features “all-day battery life.” The new ‌iPad mini‌ also features a USB-C port rather than Lightning. On the front, there is a new Ultra Wide front camera with a 12MP sensor, allowing for Center Stage just like the iPad Pro.

3. iPad 9 – Camera and Performance Boosted

The new ‌iPad‌ front camera is now upgraded to a 12MP ultra-wide camera with Center Stage, which uses machine learning to automatically detect people in the frame, panning and zooming to keep them in view during FaceTime calls. According to Apple, the A13 gives the new ‌iPad‌ a boost of up to three times faster than the top-selling Chromebook.

4. Apple watch series 7 – Bigger Screen, Epic Durability


The watch features the first redesign since 2018, and will be slightly larger. The new size can fit almost 50% more text on screen, and include a keyboard to input text. It is also dust-resistant for the first time. Apple Watch iOS 8 will also be able to automatically detect bicycle rides, including e-bikes.
